...I would argue that it is sometimes the pain in things that make you appreciate them the most... it is my unconditional willingness to endure the middle-of-the-night feedings, the cleaning up of vomit, the screaming for no good reason, etc that makes me realize how much I love my child and love raising him...

Diaper Bag Essentials

The number of items generally depends on the length of the outing but here is a general day-to-day outline.

My husband believes in a 6 diaper minimum. You never know when strange things are going to happen. Know that, at day care, they generally have a rule that diapers need to be changed every two hours.

2 changes of outfits. I buy the multi-packs of plain white onesies (short sleeve in the summer and long sleeve in the winter) and just keep those in the diaper bags so it isn’t taking cute outfits out of my rotation.

1 extra cloth diaper

Plenty of wipes

Hand sanitizer

1 Interesting toy that makes noise (rattle, etc)

1 Paci (if your baby takes it)

Diaper disposal bags (a must!)

Hand and Face Wipes (if you don’t like to use the same as the diaper changing wipes)

Bottle and Food Fixins (if necessary for the time of the outing)

Nursing Cover (if necessary for the time of the outing- when you have a newborn I would have it with you at all times)

Small Blanket (this isn't a necessity per say but can come in handy as a cover for the baby, a nursing cover, an extra cloth to clean up messes, etc)

Diaper Cream (if your baby needs it- this may just be thrown in at red booty times)
