...I would argue that it is sometimes the pain in things that make you appreciate them the most... it is my unconditional willingness to endure the middle-of-the-night feedings, the cleaning up of vomit, the screaming for no good reason, etc that makes me realize how much I love my child and love raising him...

Street Smarts

We’ve been listening to a lot of Sesame Street in the car. Any you know what, I’ll say it… sometimes it’s because I like to sing along.
Being an adult, I have some new thoughts on Sesame Street, like…
  • Why doesn’t one of those adults on Sesame Street help Ernie get his sinus problem looked at? That nasaly quality to his voice could only be attributed to a deviated septum or serious allergies. The poor kid just needs someone to care and get him help and CLEARLY Bert hasn’t stepped in as a good friend and roommate should.
  • Oscar needs to work through his Mommy issues that are leading him to devaluing himself to the point of living in trash. The “I Love Trash” song clearly states that Oscar’s mom gifted him with a tattered worn sneaker the day he was born thus teaching the young and impressionable baby Oscar that he loved trash (because that is all he was worth). I think a little therapy could have him out of the can and into a more respectable two bedroom walk-up just off the street.
  • Is Elmo a boy or a girl? I think a boy. Right?
  • Big Bird has some literacy needs, which you would think wouldn’t be a problem living on Sesame Street but he thinks the alphabet is a word.
I love all those guys and am very impressed with how they have turned out, being from the street and all.
